    About Us

Mercedes Benz and BMW Repairs by Gary Hoffmann: Fine Motorcar Garages located in Palmyra Pennsylvania.

My affiliation with Automobiles started at an early age.  As a boy born
in postwar Germany I witnessed a re-emerging Automobile industry.  Once the general
populous could begin to think of owning an automobile there were many different and
at times very unique vehicles on the market, not to mention the ubiquitous Volkswagen
    Bug (Beetle).

If one was lucky enough to have the wherewithal to own a petrol driven
vehicle it most likely was a Moped. Some of the more financially astute people at that time
had a NSU, BMW, HOREX Motorcycle or the likes.  Of course this brought forth a plethora
of technically unique vehicles onto the market.   These facts instilled a keen interest for Automobiles,
    Machines and Engineering in me.

By the age of 14 it was customary for a young lad, if higher education was not an option, to
decide on a possible trade he might want to enter.  This usually was an apprenticeship,
which was typically a 3-½ year course.

The apprenticeship consisted of full time work, which
was Monday until Saturday, intermixed with two morning classes a week at the local Trade School.
For me the choice was clear, I wanted to become an Automobile Mechanic, nowadays
    called a “Technician”.

I had the great fortune to be accepted by a Mercedes Benz franchise  Auto Weber http://www.ah-weber.de
in Freiburg Germany.  During my apprenticeship I was trained to work on all types of Mercedes Benz
vehicles beginning from the lowly Diesel Engine delivery Truck up to the then all-modern 600 Pullman
    limousine.

This solid basic training stood me well and helped me to understand more complex
systems and functions on Mercedes Benz and BMW vehicles.

In the middle 1970’s I re-entered college and culminated my training with an engineering degree in
medical electronics, quite a switch from the original trade I had learned.  Due to a poor
employment situation in Germany at the time, I never worked in that field.

In 1979 I had the distinct fortune to be allowed to immigrate to this beautiful country.  For a time I worked in the
computer field, which in turn served me well considering the total computerization of the automobile as a whole
Having learned the trade at Mercedes Benz the “carry over” to BMW automobiles was not very difficult.
In 1993 I decided to venture back to the service and repair field again, but this time on my own.

I built a 4 bay workshop next to my house.   I am located north of Palmyra, Pa. My facility is close to US Route 22
on Sherks Church Road.  (See directions)

To stay current and up to date on the changes in models and advances in the development of these cars,
as well as provide the best and most cost efficient service and repairs possible for my clients, I attend
seminars given by an independent training facility specializing in Mercedes Benz and BMW
Automobiles twice a year.  In my shop I have all the current test equipment and computer diagnostics.
I have the capability for remote diagnostics on vehicle in my shop.  This is important due to the
complexity of the vehicles and it has been a great help in my daily work.

Most of my clients are from the greater Harrisburg/Lebanon area.  My mission is to provide professional
cost efficient and accurate service and repair for my clientele.

In this ever more specialized field of automobile technology it is no longer possible to perform
“proper” service on these highly developed automobiles without regular training.  The days of the
“yes we fix all types of cars” are a thing of the past.

My specialized focus on Mercedes Benz and BMW cars keeps me efficient and knowledgeable to
    save you money.
